Power through rights, not might
As the prospect of war with Iraq increases on a daily basis, it’s important that we,
as the responsible adults, remember who will suffer the greatest if such a conflict breaks out.
Forty-five percent of Iraq’s population of 18 million is under the age of 14. That is 8 million children.
Eight million children that care little about the price of oil, have no goals of world domination,
and as yet, hold little animosity toward their American counterparts.
The media has done a wonderful job to rally the American people against the man we see on television every night — Saddam Hussein.
But unfortunately, I feel they have done little to show the faces of those who will really suffer.
Clearly, there is a problem. Thousands of Kuwaiti children and adults died from one man’s aggression.
But the answer does not lie in more aggression and suffering.
America truly is a SUPERPOWER. In the past couple of years the “IDEALS” of the American people have helped
to bring down the Berlin Wall, end the Cold War, and start the spread of democracy around the world.
Truly the “IDEALS” are how we should earn the title of SUPER-POWER — not by our military might.
